Renee George: Welcome, Iris Everlee, her sister Marigold, and Hazel Kinsey! Three witches who are the heroines of three different series I write. While they all have a lot to say, it doesn’t always help with getting them to the end of their stories. Even so, they are a pleasure to write, and I’m excited to sit down with them today and talk to them about what makes them tick, what advice they have for other witches, and what advice they might give to an author who is thinking about writing their own unique witches. Now, on to the interview. …
This is the ultimate Thanksgiving dessert for witches who happen to have a vegan daughter and a dairy-free son. LOL
And I KNOW it’s the ultimate because it’s gets eaten fast. My family is an apple dessert kind of bunch. I’ve been making apple pies, apple turnovers and apple crisps for years. HOWEVER, about six years ago, my girl child went vegan and son soon added onto the dietary restrictions list by going no dairy. I said… no problem. My first, second and 34756734 attempts were not good. But I’m not a quitter. The recipe I’m going to share can be made with regular butter, but I use Earth’s Balance and it’s just as delicious! Ready or not… here’s the …
Backlist Blitz: Witches, Shifters, and Psychics, Oh My!
Hi, everyone! Welcome to my Backlist Blitz. I’m thrilled to share my book series with you today! I love writing urban fantasy, cozy paranormal mysteries, paranormal romances, and supernatural whodunits. My stories have a dash of humor, a bit of edge, and plenty of heart—centered around strong female friendships, supportive heroes, and tight-knit communities. Whether it’s a 50-year-old psychic solving crimes with her BFFs and a dashing young detective, a 40-year-old single mom discovering she’s an elemental witch, or a 30-something werecougar navigating life (and love!) in a human town, all my books share one thing in common: they’re here …
Embrace the Cozy Vibes: Autumn Home Décor Ideas
When I was on my last trip to the USA, I fell in love with your fall (our Autumn), the decorations, and the amazing way people decorated their homes. Not to mention the best store ever: Hobby Lobby. That is the most incredible store I have ever been in, and with so many fall decorations in stock, my suitcase wasn’t big enough to hold them all. So, let’s talk home décor for the season. As the leaves turn golden and the air grows crisp, it’s the perfect time to transform your home into a cozy autumn retreat. Here are some …
Gluten & Dairy Free Pumpkin Pie
I’ve posted several versions of pumpkin pie before, but thought I’d offer you yet another. This pie uses a pre-made pie crust. I vary from the suggested recipe on the box because vinegar and my body do not agree. But it came out very tasty and good, and the coconut sugar gives it a deep, rich flavor. You can use maple syrup in place of coconut sugar, but cut it to about 2/3 cup because it’s so sweet. Crust (you can make as specified or follow my version):1 package Glutino Pie Crust Mix3/4 cup + 2 tbsp butter/shortening/margarine2 eggs1/4 cup cold …
Conjure up a spiced honey cake this Thanksgiving
As Thanksgiving approaches, it’s the perfect time to bring a touch of magic into your kitchen. My spiced honey cake is just the treat you need to add a dash of enchantment to your harvest celebrations. With its warm spices and sweet honey glaze, this cake is as delightful to taste as it is to behold. This cake isn’t just any old dessert—it’s a spellbinding blend of flavors designed to capture the essence of autumn! The aromatic mix of cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg pairs beautifully with the rich sweetness of honey, creating a cake that feels both comforting and …
Musings on the Paranormal
I believe in paranormal phenomena. It’s a prerequisite for anyone writing fiction with paranormal elements where suspension of disbelief is effective. Let me kick this off by sharing one of my experiences. About thirty years ago, I was living in Shingletown, California, a small community a few miles east of Redding. I took a shortcut one morning on back mountain roads to drive to Burney where I was scheduled to do a radio broadcast. Coming down Highway 44, the steering wheel of my Volkswagen Rabbit ripped its way to the stops. My car spun a few times and slammed into a …
Cold Blooded or Hot, Hot, Hot? How did they become so appealing?
My first taste of vampires were old black and white movies like Nosferatu (some seriously ugly vamps) and Bella Lugosi’s “Dracula” (1931) (not so ugly vampire, but creepy all the same). For some of us, it was our first introduction to bloodsuckers, but these creatures of the night began in ancient folklore as twisted, terrifying beings. The idea of blood-drinking or life-draining creatures can be traced to early civilizations. Ancient Mesopotamian and Greek legends spoke of demonic beings that feasted on human life forces. For example, the “Lamia,” who I wrote as one of the villains in my book Burning …
I am thankful for so many things!
One minute you’re young and sexy and the next you’re turning down the car radio so you can see the road better! For real. LOL HOWEVER, as I get older and wiser I realize how much I truly have to be thankful for. Being thankful is a magical superpower. It’s humbling and empowering to realize I have so much good in my life. Since it’s the month of Thanksgiving, I thought this would be a sweet post. First, there’s my family. I’ve been married to my best friend for thirty years and I still like him. He also has an …
