Christmas always mean school holidays for me, but that doesn’t mean I can relax and put my feet up. Christmas day is fast approaching and nothing gets my anxieties going more than having to work out the family get-together schedule for Christmas Day. Talk about stressful.

This year I decided to listen to my own advice. I planned ahead, set my budget and prioritized my self-care putting me at the top of the list. I aim to have a quiet Christmas Day with those that mean the most to me.

Here are some strategies to help you have a more relaxed and enjoyable Christmas:

1. Plan Ahead

Start your holiday preparations early. Make a list of everything you need to do, from shopping to decorating, and set deadlines for each task.

2. Set a Budget

Financial stress is common during the holidays. Set a realistic budget for gifts, decorations, and other expenses, and stick to it.

3. Prioritize Self-Care

Amidst the hustle and bustle, don’t forget to take care of yourself. Schedule time for relaxation, whether it’s a warm bath, a good book, or a walk in nature.

4. Delegate Tasks

You don’t have to do everything yourself. Delegate tasks to family members or friends.

5. Say No When Necessary

It’s okay to decline invitations or say no to additional responsibilities. Overcommitting can lead to burnout.

6. Stay Connected

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, talk to someone you trust. Sharing your feelings can help alleviate stress.

7. Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga can help you stay calm and centered.

8. Focus on What Matters

Remember the true spirit of the holidays. By incorporating these strategies, you can reduce stress and enjoy a more relaxed and joyful holiday season.

Merry Christmas from my family to yours. I hope you have a fabulous day and you bring in the New Year with family, friends, laughter and joy.
