Most of my readers know that I write to music. A lot. Every book has its own playlist, and I add these into the back of the book so readers can hear what inspires me. A lot of music I listen to is darkwave, industrial, goth, and grunge/alternative. But…there are several songs that don’t fit those categories, and they’ve been on almost every playlist over the years. What are the top ten that I almost always include? Well…here we go. Zero Seven: In the Waiting Line: Ever since I heard a few bars of this and spent years tracking it …
Artemis and Her Golden Bow
Many of you probably remember the Artemis myth. She’s one of the most widely known of the Greek goddesses. Her Roman counterpart is Diana. Artemis is a departure from the maiden/mother/crone depiction of women in that she was a virgin goddess. Women who attended her also had to be chaste. What she’s probably best known for, other than tending to the moon with her brother, Apollo, is righting wrongs. Years ago when I was in Soundpeace, a metaphysical bookstore in Ashland, Oregon, I plucked a silver pendant off its black velvet backing. It was about an inch-and-a-half in diameter and …
Happy New Year, friends!!! Let’s make 2025 our bitch! LOL
I used to make New Year’s Resolutions—stress on the words ‘used to’. My resolutions were batshit nuts and usually unattainable. Most lasted a week. Some lasted a few days. My resolution to walk ten miles a day lasted one day. I just don’t like my treadmill enough to spend that much time with it. You feel me? I decided that I wasn’t going down that lane anymore. Soooooo, now I make goals…. that are subject to change. It works for me. This year my goal is better work-life balance. Of course, that was my goal last year too… and …
Finishing My 85th Book: My Love-Hate Relationship with My Brain
A few weeks ago, I wrote “The End” on my 85th book. Eighty-five books! That sounds like a number I should by shouting out with the bravado of someone who’s cracked the code of life, productivity, and maybe the Many-Worlds theory of quantum physics. Let me reassure you, that’s not the case. My first book was published in 2005, and I went indie in 2014, so you would think that after two decades as a published author each new story would be a breeze at this point, but nope–every single book I write is a struggle. It’s not a lack …

Hi, everyone! Welcome to my Backlist Blitz. I’m excited to share my book series with you all! While I love writing paranormal romantic suspense, my favorite genre to write is cozy mystery. What is a cozy mystery, I hear you ask? Imagine Jessica Fletcher moved into your neighborhood from her quaint town of …

Seasons are Changing
Fall is in the air. The nights here at 8000’ are dipping below freezing. Two days ago, it snowed. For whatever reason, the fall-winter transition is when I take stock of the last year and ask myself how my life has gone. Did I like the results of my efforts? Or do I need to fine tune things a bit. I used to make lists, but that has a downside since they provide a visual reminder of what I have yet to accomplish. Rather than lists, my current strategy is overall concepts. I can make progress without feeling bad that …

Hi Witches!!! Today my witches Sassy and Zelda are interviewing me. It’s a terrifying prospect. They live in my Magic and Mayhem World and are nuts. Don’t tell them I said that. Anyhoo, hold on to your pointy hats and let’s get this over with. LOL Zelda — Robyn. May I call you Robyn? Robyn— Umm… yes. What else would you call me? Zelda—Do you really want me to answer that? Robyn—No. Zelda—That’s what I thought. So what were you drinking when you made me save the day with a Troll named Fuc%ing Derrick? Robyn—Oh come on, Fuc%ing Derrick is …

Writing From the Inside Out
Writers live on the inside. We may walk and talk among the rest of the world, and have fun, and enjoy all aspects of life, but there’s always that inner world that calls us back, that draws us into our thoughts, into our shadow-selves, into those hopes and dreams that we might be too scared to admit to anybody that we have, including ourselves. Walking into the depths of the soul requires courage, and the more years you live, the more courage it takes because you’ve had that much longer to watch humanity, and inhumanity, to experience loss and pain …
