Hello, and let’s give a big witching season welcome to Witchy Chicks Ann Gimpel and Polly Holmes!

Ann Gimpel

Ann Gimpel is a USA Today bestselling author. She’s also a mountaineer and vagabond at heart. She’s stood on top of some really gnarly peaks, and discovered that Zen mindfulness comes in very useful when the only other option is screaming your lungs out or curling into a fetal position because you’re too scared to do anything else.

What three words best describe you? Determined. Loyal. Protective.

Why did you decide to write witchy fiction? Witches have always fascinated me. Their link to the natural world and elements is so important in today’s crazy mixed-up world. Witchy magic is clean, pure, and in sync with Nature’s cadence and rhythms. Their affinity for animals is legendary. I’m a momma to wolfdogs; respect for their independence is key to sharing space with them.

Of all the books you’ve written, which is your favorite? Such a hard question. Probably my Dragon Heir trilogy.

Which of your characters are you most like, and which are you most different from? (Blushing) My first trilogy long, long ago featured a Jungian analyst as the FMC. I never made that mistake again. It cut way too close to home. I’d love to think I’m like Aislinn in the Earth Reclaimed series. Damn, that woman is one kickass bitch.

What can we expect next from you? I’m trying to finish my Sanctuary trilogy. The first two are done. The third is over half written. I’ve had a few issues that have gotten in the way, but I’m clearing the decks for full speed ahead.

What’s your drink of choice? Dark roast organic coffee or herbal tea

Polly Holmes

Australian author, Polly Holmes writes paranormal and culinary cozy mysteries and paranormal romantic suspense. Her books are rich in storyline with action-packed scenes, a touch of comedy and fun-loving characters that stay with you long after you turn the last page.

According to Polly, the best part about writing cozies is researching. Finding the best way to hook the reader, a unique way to murder someone, a plethora of suspects and of course, a touch of magic with a dose of sweetness thrown in for good measure. Polly is an award-winning author, and her book awards tally so far is two firsts and eight finalist places from all around the world.

What three words best describe you? Dedicated, loyal, high-spirited

Why did you decide to write witchy fiction? As the saying goes, It’s not what you know, but who you know! I was asked by a fellow cozy writer if I wanted to join an anthology with her and the only stipulation was that the stories had to include magic, witches and talking familiars. She had me at magic. I jumped in feet first, and before I knew it, I was hooked and as long as there is magic in my stories, the world is a better place.

Of all the books you’ve written, which is your favorite? I’m not sure I have one particular favorite. I love writing across genres, each providing me with a creative outlet to make whatever book I am working on my favorite. I do have to say that writing the last few in my current series with an added element of danger has been rewarding.

Which of your characters are you most like, and which are you most different from? I’d like to think that there is a part of me in every one of my leading ladies. But if I had to choose, the Melting Pot Cafe series has four prominent female characters and I feel I’ve written each to have an aspect of me in them. Evelyn, Harriet, Jordi and the coolest aunt ever, Aunt Edie.

What can we expect next from you? I’m excited to share book 9, An Act of Murder from my Melting Pot Cafe series will be officially released on 1 December and I’ll be writing the final book in the series starting the first week of October. Then I’ll be moving into a brand new 4 book paranormal cozy series based on an undercover Police agency for witches and shifters. More commonly known as PAWS. The prequel, Maid for Murder is currently available.

What’s your drink of choice? Coffee, usually a latte with caramel syrup or a nice SB white wine with ice.
