I used to make New Year’s Resolutions—stress on the words ‘used to’.
My resolutions were batshit nuts and usually unattainable. Most lasted a week. Some lasted a few days. My resolution to walk ten miles a day lasted one day. I just don’t like my treadmill enough to spend that much time with it. You feel me?
I decided that I wasn’t going down that lane anymore.
Soooooo, now I make goals…. that are subject to change.
It works for me.
This year my goal is better work-life balance. Of course, that was my goal last year too… and I failed.
BUT that’s the beauty of this method. No blame. No pain. No worries if you FUBAR. You just start over and try again. If at first you don’t succeed……
Some of my other goals for 2025 are:
—Switch to diet soda. I’m already 6 days in and I haven’t killed anyone. I consider this a win.
— Exercise in the morning. So far, so good. If I try to do it later in the day, I just don’t do it.
— Hang out with buddies more. Writing is a very solitary sport and I have a tendency to be a hermit. LOL So, this year I am gonna make playdates with my friends!
I only make a few goals. Too many will mean that I’ll ignore all of them. LOL
Tell me what you do and what your goals are for the year. AND REMEMBER… everything is subject to change.
xoxo Robyn
